Are You Trapped Inside Your Own Body?
When I was this guy, 425 lbs, there were times I literally felt trapped inside my own body. I know that’s a cliché thing to say, but I have felt that actual feeling. I had recurring dreams about riding a bike, or flying, or taking off running faster than my feet could even carry me.
I would often have this feeling, sitting on the couch or at my desk, that at any moment I was going to break out of my own skin, as if I was just stuck inside one of those sumo-suits, and take off. I can’t even accurately describe the feeling, but I swear you think you’re going crazy. I would be SCREAMING on the inside, and smiling on the outside. So weird. Josh is nuts, that’s it. Cancel the blog, he’s a nut-job. lol
In some ways, I still feel this way, though the feeling has gone away to some extent. And I talk to others who feel this way too. They feel trapped in their body by weight, by illness or disorder, or by the stress or boredom of a life they feel “stuck” in. About that feeling, I say this: it can change. You can change. You have within you the capacity to change something, even just within the way you view your life, that will hold that feeling at bay.
Maybe, like me, it means getting control of your health to stop feeling like a prisoner in your body. Maybe for you it means changing careers, changing friends, changing locations, or just changing your heart. Let me encourage you today the way I am encouraged today: with the knowledge that you were created ON PURPOSE, WITH a purpose, and while you may not know it yet, there is power in you. Take this in:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.’ We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we’re liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” -Marianne Williamson
You can do it. Just do today. make today better than yesterday. Try harder. Push further. Let something go. You are POWERFUL.
